Good Afternoon,

I am currently representing Slough Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of £355.87 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Finance Manager this role will be: SL1 2EJ

The right candidate will:

* Help see the council through the 2025/26 budget and MTFS refresh.

* The post will support the Strategic Finance Manager – Financial Planning/MTFS.

* You and the Strategic Finance Manager will lead on the development and delivery of medium-term financial planning, coordination of the Council’s annual budget process, in conjunction with Senior Leaders and Finance Business Partner colleagues.

* Leading on the alignment with Corporate and Service planning processes and key strategies such as the Treasury Management Strategy.

* The key aim is delivery of longer-term financial sustainability in a complex and financially challenged authority.

* The role will also coordinate financial monitoring and reporting processes across the Council ensuring regular reporting to the council’s leadership, improving current processes and ensuring that they are fit for purpose and provide information that aligns financial and service delivery, providing insights to decision-makers, working closely with Finance Business Partners, and coordinating processes for development of financial mitigations.

We require the following:

* CCAB/CIMA (or overseas equivalent).

* Experience, evidenced by a record of success, of managing a significant organisational function or service in a large multi-disciplined organisation with comparable scope, budgets and resources, including of commercial and financial management.

* Experience of maintaining partnerships and productive working relationships within a complex policy and service environment with senior managers and councillors, and a wide range of other bodies, such as partner organisations, communities, public agencies and statutory bodies.

* A proven track record of analysing and providing advice and guidance on local government finance and policy issues including legislative change and horizon scanning.

* Strong knowledge of the issues facing local government and those relevant to service/functional responsibilities, together with the legal, financial and political context of public sector management and the statutory responsibilities of this post.
