The client is a leading provider in the energy and utilities sector, specializing in overhead line (OHL) services. They operate on the UKPN network, focusing on the installation, replacement, diversion, and reinforcement works across the Southern Region, covering North London, Essex, and Hertfordshire. About the Role
As a Supervisor (OHL), you will play a key role in overseeing all OHL activity on the UKPN network across the Southern Region. This includes the installation, replacement, diversion, and reinforcement of works in North London, Essex, and Hertfordshire. You will be responsible for leading teams to ensure high standards of safety, compliance, and quality are met.
Key responsibilities:
* Survey work sites prior to, during, and after works, including final re-measures, and report findings to the Project Manager (PM)
* Plan and allocate resources effectively for OHL installation and maintenance works
* Develop job packs for teams, and manage forward planning to anticipate future resource needs
* Ensure that all work is performed safely, in compliance with procedures, and under the correct permits/PAIs
* Manage the health and safety concerns of the site, ensuring an accident-free culture is maintained
* Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure that projects are on track and meet customer expectations
* Mentor and guide field staff, ensuring consistent high-quality work
What the client is looking for in the ideal candidate:
* Previous experience in managing OHL or utility-related projects
* Proven ability to manage staff on-site and ensure work meets quality and safety standards
* Strong planning skills with the ability to anticipate and solve problems
* Knowledge of H&S regulations and CDM compliance
* Ability to motivate staff and work collaboratively with different teams
* Excellent communication skills, with experience dealing directly with clients and customers
Requirements
* Experience in managing overhead line (OHL) projects
* Strong knowledge of the energy or utilities sector, especially in OHL and civil works
* Familiarity with NRSWA, CDM regulations, and other relevant standards
* Valid First Aid, manual handling, and H&S training (SMSTS/SSSTS desirable)
* Ability to use IT tools and systems for project management and documentation
* Full UK driving license (due to travel between sites)
