About the role: In this rewarding position, you will work with students aged 16-24 in the college’s LLDD (Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) department. The students have EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) and require tailored support to thrive in their learning environment. You will support individuals with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities), MLD (Moderate Learning Disabilities), physical difficulties, and autism. Working alongside a dedicated team of professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists (SLT), you’ll play a vital role in enhancing students’ communication and independence. Some of the students are non-verbal and use alternative communication methods like tablets and visual cards.
This is a full-time role for four days a week, ideal for candidates with experience in SEN or a care background. Personal care, including toileting, may be required for some students, so a compassionate approach is essential.

Application Requirements:
• Experience working with young adults or individuals with SEN.
• A background in care, with experience in personal care support.
• Familiarity with PMLD, MLD, and autism.
• A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude, with a strong commitment to supporting students’ wellbeing.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide dedicated support to students with physical, learning, and communication needs.
• Assist non-verbal students with communication tools such as visual aids and tablets.
• Collaborate with SLTs and other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
• Support students with personal care tasks, including toileting and hygiene, as needed.
• Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment where students can build independence.
