We are currently seeking a passionate and personable Catering Manager to join our diligent facilities team at our Cheadle Hulme campus.

As Catering Manager you’ll provide a catering service for Seashell Students, staff and visitors
This will include the daily preparation of student lunches to meet individual dietary and preparation requirements in our amazing, newly built kitchen and dining rooms.

You’ll help create and continue to shape a varied and healthy menu selection that is both attractive to our students and also allows them to make independent choices.

Overseeing a team of around five, you’ll also be tasked with the provision of staff catering, providing breakfast and lunch options.

What you’ll be doing:

* Undertake menu planning and development for students with complex disabilities and dysphagia and ensure menus provide a level of choice for all students.

* Ensure adequate staffing levels are in place to provide an excellent catering provision.

* Maintain records of stock and ordered items as required.

* Maintain Seashell’s 5* Environmental Health Score.

* Quality control of food and stock

* Undertake, allocate and oversee the work of the kitchen staff team

* Ensure that the appropriate PPE and clothing is worn at all times

* Ensure that the food expenditure is kept within budget in consultation with Facilities Manager (Soft Services).

* Undertake menu evaluation with students and staff to develop future menus and choices.

* Co-operate fully with any statutory inspections and implement recommendation as appropriate.

* Ensure Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) processes are followed and recorded as required.

* Understand and manage all appropriate responsibilities in relation to fire procedures, health and safety, COSSH, infection control, food hygiene and first aid.

We’re looking for someone to be a Seashell Ambassador and be committed to ensuring the continuous development of our site to support the children and young people in our care.

What you’ll need for the role:

* City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ equivalent

* Minimum Level 3 food Hygiene Certificate

* GCSE grade A*-C or relevant Level 2 equivalent in Maths and English

* Menu planning

* Ability to produce a range of menus that meet the needs of customers, legislative requirements / guidance and are financially sustainable

* Ability to use basic IT systems

* Experience in line management of a team of at least five kitchen staff

* Ability to work both as part of a team or independently

* Stock and resource management

* Managing budgets and reporting

* Previous experience in an SEN or care setting / knowledge of dysphasia/ modified foods

* Knowledge of nutrition and special dietary needs
