Job Title: Management Accountant

Location: Manchester City Centre (5 days in the office)

Job Type: 3-month contract  

Salary: Up to £40,000

Job Description:

Axon Moore are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our long-term commercial client on an interim basis.  The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of our organization by preparing, developing, and analysing key financial information to ensure that management makes well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, growth, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries for 2 assigned entities.
Monitor and evaluate financial information systems and suggest improvements where needed.
Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support business planning and decision-making processes.
Assist in the formulation of budgetary and accounting policies.
Manage and oversee the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
Develop and manage financial systems/models.
Liaise with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out.
Collaborate with department heads to support financial operations and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Management Accounting:

- Prepare monthly management accounts for two assigned entities.

- Monitor and report on financial performance, including variance analysis against budgets,

trends and forecasts.

2. Reconciliations and Clean-up:

- Conduct thorough reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and

intercompany accounts.

- Identify and rectify discrepancies in prior period bookings to ensure accuracy in financial

records.

- Implement processes for continuous reconciliation to maintain the integrity of the financial

data.

3. Year-End Support:

- Assist in the preparation and completion of year-end financial statements.

- Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to help with the audit of the two

entities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable.
5 plus years’ experience in a Management Accountant or in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen eye for detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience of working in the property development industry & Sage is a plus.
