Job Title: Welding Technical Manager
Location: Billingham, Middlesbrough
Duration: Permanent
Salary: £70,000+ per annum
We are currently recruiting for a Welding Manager for a permanent position based in Billingham, Middlesbrough.
Manager of the Welding department and managing all aspects of Welding Engineering from tender review to delivery.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Managing the Welding Engineers.
* Responsible for the Monitoring and production of the Welding department deliverables.
* Responsible for Maintaining the welder qualifications.
* Responsible for all fabrication Quality/Welding information for each customer contract.
* Responsible for Monitoring aspects of quality control systems and records within the fabrication department; including maintaining and developing department work instructions, standard operations, method statements, etc.
* Producing and maintaining Company Weld-maps, WPS and PQR documentation for ASME and EN standards; including supervising, monitoring and documenting new welding procedure qualifications (WPQR).
* Responsibility for the control of calibration/validation/servicing of welding equipment.
* Continuous improvements in equipment and process, running trials and proving new methods (R&D).
* On time issuance of documents related to contracts.
* Welder qualifications and company qualifications are up to date.
* Monthly reporting.
Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience in welding co-ordination and quality control within a fabrication shop environment.
* Experience of interpreting and implementing ASME & EN ISO welding codes and standards.
* Welding safety standards and implementation of effective health, safety, and environmental cultures.
* Ability to interpret fabrication and engineering drawings.
* Experience in using and running Polysoude systems.
* Worked as a Welding Engineer Lead.
* Knowledge of TIG welding of nickel alloys.
Qualifications:
* BEng Hons or MSc in a Relevant Engineering subject.
* International/European Welding Engineer (IWE/EWE) - or comprehensive knowledge according to ISO 14731 (ISO 3834-2).
* Computer literate with a good working knowledge of standard Microsoft software.
Scope Factors:
* This role involves reviewing/producing technical reviews, WPS's, WPQR's and welder qualifications in line with international standards.
* Liaise with multiple inspection authorities for Weld Procedure qualifications, Welder qualifications and other operations.
* The role also requires to be the technical lead for Welding Engineering related issues internally as well as for customers.
