As the Electrical Controls Engineer, You will be part of the core engineering team and be responsible for all aspects of machinery controls, building infrastructure controls and energy supply facilities. You will be expected to manage projects from a minimal budget expenditure up to £1,000,00 + and deliver them safely, at optimal cost, on time and aligned with strict engineering standards. You will work with a varied range of teams including other engineers, management, production, and maintenance personnel to deliver projects and services which support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment transforming into a world leader in electric vehicle powertrains.
Qualifications and Experience required by the Electrical Controls Engineer
• The candidate should hold an electrical bias Engineering degree. Candidates not meeting these criteria but with the relevant experience will be considered.
• The candidate should demonstrate highly effective project management skills from specification, vendor selection to project delivery and implementation.
• Have worked in a manufacturing or similar environment.
• General computer literacy and familiar with Excel, Word or equivalent and project management software.
• Be familiar with developing engineering specifications considering corporate, external and legal standards and requirements.
• Analytical mindset to develop engineering solutions
• Excellent people and communication skills
• Highly motivated and self-driven
• PLC experience, including Siemens Step-7 and TIA portal is essential
• Understanding of machine hardware and controls, including the following: -
ABB, Fanuc and UR robotics. Electromechanical pressing and fastening systems. Vision systems.
• Manufacturing Production Network (MPN) experience and understanding of machine interfaces with internal and external networks.
• Support hardware discussions and agreements with OEM's.
• Development and implementation of controls refurbishment activities for available machinery and equipment
• AutoCAD electrical and Eplan conversant, creation and responsibility for approving changes to electrical drawings and PLC programmes.
• Provide cost studies for new projects.
• Use of utility monitoring and reporting systems.
• Planning and procuring of energy supply systems
• HV and LV electrical distribution knowledge.
• Experience of working with Building Management systems.
• Machine sign off experience, pre-acceptance and final acceptance audits at machine tool vendors and in-house preparations of acceptance reports and implementation of findings at vendors including the understanding of machine standards for production environments, CE and UKCA marking, Norms, BS and EN standards
