Morson Talent are delighted to present an opportunity for a suitably experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our client’s established team for work associated with a major energy infrastructure Project in Somerset. This is a 12month (renewable) contract position – inside IR35. Based: Aztec West, Bristol.
Principle Accountabilities
The Assistant Project Manager will support the delivery of part of the Project detailed design engineering activities for the life cycle of the contract in accordance with the overall Project schedule.
He/She will have responsibility for successfully managing Responsible Designer (RD) and Nuclear Services Contracts ensuring that the engineering is delivered safely to cost, schedule and quality requirements – meeting the needs of the Project.
Other Accountabilities
Ensuring that work is carried out in line with Health and Safety, Schedule and Quality Assurance requirements
Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the Project strategies within the delivery of the contract
Accountable for the delivery of the RD & Nuclear Services Task Order
Proactively drive the delivery of a key scope area of the contract and associated activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements
Proactively monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget, funding and provide key stakeholders with associated reports
Within the scope area, anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contract. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised and escalate any issues
Proactively managing the interface with the Responsible Designer and Nuclear Services contract management team and Technical teams on Project
Identifying and coordinating the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including project management, document management, project controls, commercial and technical teams.
Regular reporting of progress and issues (KPI)

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Typically, degree or equivalent (in relevant science or engineering subject preferable)
Previous experience in Project Management or Project Engineering on large or complex engineering or construction projects
Knowledge of and experience in working with NEC contracts preferred
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Coordination skills and leadership
Understanding of quality requirements
Decision making and escalation ability for resolution of issues
Budget and commercial awareness
Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate evidence of using a ‘problem-solving’ approach
Ability to build strong working relationships with and effectively manage internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements
