Key Responsibilities:
As the Head of History, you will lead the department to inspire students with a deeper understanding of historical events and their impact. Key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing a comprehensive and engaging History curriculum that promotes critical thinking and a love for learning.
Leading and mentoring a team of history teachers, supporting best practices in teaching and learning.
Organising field trips, guest lectures, and interactive projects to enrich students’ historical knowledge and engagement.
Inspiring students to explore diverse perspectives and appreciate the relevance of history in today’s world.
Collaborating with senior leadership to align the department’s objectives with the school’s broader vision and goals.
Requirements for the Head of History:
A relevant degree in History or a related field.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Extensive experience in teaching History at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of the National Curriculum.
Proven leadership abilities, with excellent skills in mentoring and managing staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
A commitment to delivering an inclusive, thought-provoking, and balanced History curriculum.
