Job Title: Sous Chef
Location: Edinburgh - 10 minute walk from city centre
Salary: £32,000 per annum + Service Charge
Are you a talented Sous Chef looking to step up in a small, quality-driven kitchen? We are seeking a career driven Sous Chef to support the Head Chef at a luxury boutique hotel in Edinburgh. With up to 40 covers, the kitchen focuses on creating seasonal, Scottish-inspired dishes, using the best of local produce in a 5-5-5 menu format.
About the Role
As Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the kitchen team, helping to shape the menu and maintain high standards. This role involves assisting with all aspects of kitchen management, supporting the Head Chef in leading the team, and ensuring service runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Head Chef with daily operations, from prep through to service.
* Help with team management, including training and supervising junior chefs.
* Ensure food hygiene and health and safety standards are upheld.
* Support with stock management, ordering, and maintaining gross profit margins.
* Step up to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Chef de Partie ready to take the next step.
* Passion for cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients and knowledge of Scottish produce.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
* An interest in developing both practical and management skills.
