Job Description:
As a Storeman at Langfields, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and stores. You will be responsible for managing inventory, coordinating the receipt and dispatch of materials, and supporting the production team with the necessary tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
* Accurately record and monitor stock levels to ensure that materials and tools are available for production needs.
* Conduct regular stock checks and audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
* Manage the storage of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are stored safely and efficiently.
Material Handling:
* Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders.
* Safely and efficiently store materials in designated areas.
* Prepare and dispatch materials and tools to the production team as required.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receiving, issuing, and transferring materials.
* Generate and submit inventory reports to management.
* Report any discrepancies or issues related to inventory or materials to the relevant departments.
Health and Safety Compliance:
* Ensure that all activities in the stores area comply with Langfields’ health and safety policies.
* Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company guidelines.
* Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the storage area to promote a safe working environment.
Collaboration and Communication:
* Work closely with the production team to understand material requirements and prioritize tasks accordingly.
* Communicate effectively with suppliers, drivers, and other external stakeholders as needed.
* Support the procurement team by providing timely updates on stock levels and material needs.
* Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous experience in a similar Storeman or warehouse role, preferably within the manufacturing or metal fabrication industry.
* Familiarity with inventory management systems and procedures.
* Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (Forklift certification is desirable).
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Basic computer skills, including the use of inventory management software.
* Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
