Job Title: Transport Manager
Location: Walton-on-Thames
Contract Hours: Monday to Friday/ 08:00 – 18:00
Salary: Up to £40k basic
The Role
As the Transport Manager, you will oversee the MOT Bay and Fitters Workshop, ensuring continuous and effective control over all areas of the operation. A key part of your role will be ensuring compliance with the company’s International Operator’s Licence and proactively maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Compliance and Oversight
Maintain full compliance with all transport operating legislation.
Serve as the Transport Manager on the Company's International Operator’s Licence.
Oversee day-to-day compliance with the Operator’s Licence, including:
Monitoring drivers' hours and ensuring adherence to regulations.
Reviewing and managing daily drivers’ defect reports.
Collecting, reviewing, and managing all required compliance documentation.
Provide comprehensive training to drivers and supervisors on transport compliance.
Conduct and document random driver and vehicle checks.
Manage and monitor driver and vehicle checks to maintain operational integrity.Fleet Management and Analysis
Oversee and update the Company's electronic fleet compliance system.
Manage tachograph analysis and monitor drivers’ hours data systems.
Collaborate with vehicle manufacturers and maintenance workshops to ensure fleet efficiency.
Review internal systems to identify opportunities to improve compliance and reduce costs related to damages, maintenance, tyres, and other operational expenses.
Conduct in-depth accident investigations, provide training, and liaise with HR on any potential disciplinary actions.
Coordinate with insurance providers and maintain accurate records of insurance claims and investigations.
Analyse vehicle and tyre damage, telematics data, and other operational metrics to identify trends and implement corrective measures.Driver Training and Auditing
Deliver corrective training to drivers as needed.
Conduct internal fleet and transport audits to ensure continuous compliance.
Maintain and prepare all local transport and compliance reports.Additional Vehicle Management Responsibilities
Oversee vehicles going on and off hire, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including CC zones, LEZ, and BEZ requirements.
Manage vehicle entries for congestion charges and Dartford crossings.
Provide support across multiple location sites as needed.Job Skills & Qualifications
Essential: Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Holder.
Proven knowledge of transport compliance, regulations, and operator’s licence management.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities to train and guide drivers and supervisors.
Analytical mindset with experience in reviewing operational data and identifying improvements.
Proficiency in using electronic fleet and compliance management systems.How to Apply
