Teaching Personnel has been approached by a specialist provision in Darwen which caters for pupils aged 11-16 with complex social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Many pupils who attend this school have not had a previously good experience at school and have been persistently absent from education. As a result, the pupils have large gaps in their learning and have low confidence levels in their academic ability.
The school offers a therapeutic environment which allows the pupils to thrive. A varied curriculum is offered including vocational subjects as well as core subjects. The school also focuses on enrichment and connecting the pupils to their environment, as a result pupils should feel more engaged with their education and want to do well.
As a sports coach you will be responsible for:
Helping pupils to engage with their learning
Be a learning coach and encourage pupils to engage with their education
Use sports as a tool to encourage pupils
Build positive relationships with pupils
Praise good behaviour
Deal with potentially difficult situations
The role will include using a person’s sports background to help to build relationships with students. The school seeks people with this background because people with this background display key competencies which are important to the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
