Teaching Assistant

Salary: £83 - £100 per day

GSL Education are seeking dedicated and flexible Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis at an Ofsted Outstanding Client School located in York, North Yorkshire. The successful candidate will work with class teachers to ensure that lessons are delivered in accordance with students' individualised learning goals, and support students on a 1:1 basis. This role requires adaptability, as the successful candidate will be called upon as needed to cover staff absences and support different classes across the school.

The school consists of students aged 11-18 has been graded to be ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED in their quality of education, personal development, leadership and management and their sixth-form provision.

They offer a range of training opportunities to help the teachers stay at the forefront of educational practices.
As students learn in different manners, teachers adapt these varying learning styles in their lessons.
They use small group intervention to target gaps in understanding in core subjects.
For SEN children who require adaptations to accommodate their requirements, the school ensures access arrangements are in place to support their normal approach of working and, when necessary, deploys teaching assistants.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

Assist teachers with managing classroom, delivering lessons under the teacher's guidance, and helping students with their learning on a 1:1 and small group basis.
Provide dedicated support to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom environment.
Use appropriate strategies to manage and support student behavior.
Working with class teachers and other support staff to provide the best educational, emotional, and social support that you can.
Assist with maintaining classroom discipline and supporting students with behavioural issues.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:

Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Have prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or as an Education Practitioner.
Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of children.
The ability to manage and promote positive behaviour in-line with school policy.
Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
