My client based in Northeast England provides vital support to young people in the community. Specifically working with Care leavers, this provider are one of the best in what they do. They are now looking to recruit a number of Young Persons Support Worker to join their team due to the expansion of the services.

As the Young Persons Support Worker, you will be carrying out a range of duties, some of which have been mentioned below:

All young people, no matter their circumstances and background, deserve equal worth, equal rights and equal opportunities to transform their lives and our client strive to reflect that in everything they do. Currently they primarily focus and house young people within the 18-25 age group.

We are looking for Young Persons Support Workers to join their team that have a background in delivering care and support to young people. You will be visiting young people living in supported accommodation in the community and help them to attend various appointments in the area, therefore a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is preferable however not essential for this role, so long as you can get to each site within a timely manner.

The Young Persons Support Worker will be an empathetic and understanding role model and mentor working alongside young people, empowering them to:

* Develop individual choice, self-direction and essential life skills

* Live healthy, safe and fulfilled lives

* Find education, training or employment

* Build their self-esteem, confidence and resilience

* Grow their support networks

* Understand their finances and learn budgeting skills

* Develop social skills so they can enjoy their lives to the full

* Understand their rights and entitlements

* Develop and deliver person centred support

* Align support plans to compliment other support services and agencies

* Evidence service users progress

* Monitor and report safeguarding issues

* Ensure welfare and benefits are claimed to minimise arrears

* Property management ensuring health and safety and repairs.

* To assess and develop identified plans of support including care plans and risk assessments.

* To support monitor and record developments in the young person’s independent living skills

* To be available to work at times appropriate to the changing needs of the Service User and for the efficient use of staff resources

The ideal candidate will have previous support work in a similar sector and have a passion for supporting and helping others from vulnerable backgrounds such as Ex-Offenders, Care Leavers, Homelessness, Substance Abuse and Mental Illness.

As a team, we work flexibly to meet the needs of young people 24/7, 365 days a year so a flexible approach to your role is essential as you will be required to work based on interchangeable shift patterns.

Shifts available (but not limited to):

* Day shift - Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (37.5 hours)

* Weekend - 8:30am-5pm (16 hours)

* Sleep In's - 8pm-11pm (3 hours) 11pm-7am (Sleep In £65) Monday - Sunday

The Young Persons Support Worker role will be temporary at the start with a view to become permanent after a few months. The Young People's Support Worker will be required to hold an enhanced DBS check which has been issues in the last 2 years. You will be working day or night shifts depending on your availability or preference although flexibility is a must. You will be working at 2 locations which are about 25 minutes from each other by car ( specific details of locations will be given during a candidates application )
