A SEN primary school in Ilford is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate full-time Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive and nurturing environment, where you will be instrumental in helping children with Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day support of children with special educational needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing One-on-One Support: Work closely with individual students to support their learning, behaviour, and social interactions. Tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring they receive the attention and guidance required for their development.

Assisting with PECS and Colourful Semantics: Implement communication tools such as the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Colourful Semantics to enhance students' communication skills. Experience with these systems is highly desirable, as they are integral to the learning process for many children with Autism and related conditions.

Supporting Classroom Activities: Collaborate with teachers to create a positive learning environment. Assist in delivering lesson plans, managing classroom behaviour, and providing additional support during activities that may be challenging for SEN students.

Promoting Social and Emotional Development: Encourage positive social interactions among students. Support their emotional well-being by fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion within the school community.

Monitoring Progress: Keep detailed records of students' progress and behaviors. Communicate regularly with teachers and parents to provide updates and discuss strategies for further support.

Qualifications and Skills:
To excel in this role, you should have:

Experience with SEN: Prior experience working with children who have Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome is essential. Familiarity with PECS and/or Colourful Semantics will be a significant advantage.

Patience and Empathy: A compassionate approach is crucial when working with SEN children. You must be patient, understanding, and capable of building strong, trusting relationships with students.

Teamwork: You will work closely with teachers, other LSAs, and specialists. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to supporting each child's needs.

If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with special educational needs and have the skills and experience required, we would love to hear from you. This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of a team that truly makes a difference every day.
