Main Duties

The main duties of this position are the following:

* Specialise in the setup and operation of a convention horizontal boring machine.

* Operate various other machine tools: lathe; milling machine; drill etc.

* Produce component parts from conventional engineering drawings and specifications in a timely manner and to high standards.

* Work to tight engineering tolerances.

* Inspect and measure own work throughout the manufacturing process.

* Assist in the creation of standard working procedures for typical processes.

* Work as part of a team to contribute to the continuous improvement of the department, via productivity or efficiency improvements.

* Adhere to good housekeeping practice, to ensure all equipment and working areas are kept clean and tidy.

Essential requirements:

* Previous experience as a machine operator, or similar role.

* Ability to read mechanical detail drawings and understand the machining requirement from these.

* Skill operating various machine tools.

Experience in the following would be preferred:

* Having used a “Kerns Richard SH75” or similar boring machine.

* Have a counterbalance forklift truck licence.

* Ability to operate overhead crane to load & unload parts.

* Have knowledge of “Safe Working practice” in a machine shop environment
