JOB- Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION- Welwyn Garden City
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £35,000 to £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Premier Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading company in Defence and Aerospace based in Welwyn Garden City. This role involves designing high-precision mechanical components and assemblies, working closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to develop innovative solutions for critical applications.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Experience in mechanical design within the Defence, Aerospace, or Precision Engineering sectors
Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
Knowledge of materials, machining, and fabrication processes
Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles
Experience producing detailed technical drawings, GD&T, and BOMs
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements
Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamThe Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

Designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for Defence and Aerospace applications
Producing 3D models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation
Conducting design reviews, modifications, and optimisation for performance and manufacturability
Collaborating with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure feasibility
Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications
