We are looking for a Metallographic Technician to join our team at the laboratory based in Wednesbury, Sandwell.
What will I be doing?
In its simplest and most explicit form, industrial safety can be a matter of life or death. As a Metallographic Technician for Rotech, you will be helping to make a safer place for industry, businesses and for people whenever and wherever. In this role you will be responsible for the timely preparing, testing and reporting of materials.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out all sample preparation including cutting.
Accurate mounting, grinding, polishing and etching of samples.
Carrying out metallography, cleanliness verifications, weld assessments and corrosion testing reporting fully on the results.
Carrying out hardness testing, including day of use checks.
Carrying out Macro etching, recording data accurately.
Use of metallurgical microscopes (including verification checks), recording of data and escalating any concerns to your line manager as appropriate.
Carrying out preparation and testing of corrosion specimens, in line with customer demands i.e. ASTM G48, G28, A262 Practices A, B, C, D. – Reporting test results to customers (written and verbal).
Assisting in sample preparation and product testing in other areas of the Laboratory as customer demands dictate.
What experience do I need?
Our team consists of the best, highly skilled and qualified Technician's and we want our new recruits to have the same attitude, aptitude and appetite for what we do.
Requirements include:
Ideally educated to HNC standard within an appropriate discipline.
Relevant work experience in this area.
Able to maintain competence of test procedures.
Communication skills, both written and verbal.
Interpersonal & team working skills.
Customer service skills.
