Introduction

We are thrilled to continue our partnership with a local manufacturing company. The company is on the search for a committed Chemical Manufacturing Operator to join their Operations Department. The role is carried out on a shift pattern and comes with a 2-year apprenticeship commitment, alongside fire-crew responsibilities.

The Company

We are working with a long-standing business in Norfolk, working within the Chemical Manufacturing industry to serve businesses across the globe. They are world-leaders within the sector and provide assistance to a wide range of customers. They are actively seeking a Chemical Manufacturing Operator to join their team, who has relevant experience in a similar industry.

To be successful with this position you will have previous relevant experience – such as education within the chemical field, chemical-based working experience, experience and knowledge working within strict health and safety (manufacturing, production etc). You will have a keen interest within role and skill progression - actively engaging with the development opportunities, and a collaborative approach to your working environment.

The Responsibilities of a Chemical Manufacturing Operator

* Operate and monitor chemical plant manufacturing processes using both manual and computerised systems.

* Collaborate with team members to ensure the production timeframes are met.

* Conduct product quality testing at various stages (intermediate and final).

* Report issues to relevant personnel, contribute to the diagnosis and resolution of issues to maintain efficient processes.

How this role differs from other CMO opportunities.

Alongside working as a new CMO you will also be committing to completing a 2-year Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will complement the CMO position by combining the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed. Completing this will require both work-based training and home-study.

Operating within a safe and responsible environment is non-negotiable; and as such this role will also include taking part in an emergency response role as a requirement. For this role you will be part of the fire crew, which is made up of a fire safety officer and trained operators or the incident response team. This means that if there are any on-site concerns you will be mobilised, under the direction of the fire safety officer, to respond and keep the site safe. Consequently, there will be a need to wear breathing apparatus and regular training.

Requirements for this CMO position

The production schedule is extremely demanding offering both physical and mental challenges. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate the following skills:

* Relevant experience in a similar process industry

* A strong understanding of Health and Safety practices

* A methodical and organised approach to work

* City & Guilds and NVQ or equivalent qualifications in Processing Industries Operations.

* Achieved a minimum of equivalent Grade 9-4 qualifications (GCSE Grade C and above) in English and Maths.

* You will need to be committed to achieving high work standards.

Details

* Starting salary of £38,340 per annum based on 42 hour average working week, with the potential to increase to £43,648 once fully qualified and competent.

* Shift pattern of work: 4 x 12 hour continuous shift pattern, 2 days followed by 2 nights, followed by 4 days off. Please note: this is on a rota system, so will include working bank holidays (such as Easter / Christmas) if scheduled on the rota.

Additional

* Bonus – Discretionary performance related bonus.

* Pension - A group personal pension scheme is operated with the company matching contributions plus 2% up to a maximum of 10% of salary.

* Holidays - 25 days annual leave plus public holidays

* Healthcare – Private medical insurance scheme is offered along with an on-site Health Centre

* Life Assurance - The Company provides a death in service benefit equal to one year of contractual salary. If a member of the Company’s pension arrangement, the death in service benefit will increase to three times contractual salary.

* Cycle to Work Scheme

* Virtual health and wellbeing service

What to expect from the recruitment process

* You will do first screening with Hanto to go over your working experience, the details of the position, and to check your suitability to progress.

* There will then be an on-site registration process with Hanto to complete your face-to-face registration, before you then go on to meet with the company.

* With the company you will complete an assessment day, which covers your interview, team-building exercise and potentially a more formal assessment (full details TBC)
