The Role: 

The Data Strategy, Capability and Oversight Team (DSCO) sits at the heart of Border Force’s transformation journey and is responsible for setting the direction for our strategic approach to data including the future operating model. Our teams also deliver the business-critical functions of obtaining and quality assuring data from external partners to support frontline and intelligence colleagues and ensuring that Border Force is legally compliant in the collection, storage, exploitation, and disposal of data.

The role is within the Data Acquisition and Quality Team. DatAQ is the front door for all passenger, crew and freight data from industry, carriers, trade partners and other Governments Departments. In addition, DatAQ works with government and industry partners to acquire new data flows for Border Force ensuring that data is obtained legally and to an appropriate standard.

Responsibilities:

Planning and Scheduling – Assist with and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.

Monitoring and Reporting – Assist in maintaining project controls and in producing project reports.

Admin – Responsible for project file management using robust version control. Organise key project meetings and provide secretariat support.

Stakeholder – Assist with maintaining the stakeholder log for internal and external stakeholders. Act as the focal point for project responses to external requests for information.

Risks and issues – Assist with and maintain risk and issue logs, escalating as appropriate.

Skills & Experience:

A proven track record of delivering projects and initiatives

be able to demonstrate strong planning and organising skills combined with the ability to balance conflicting and changing demands

Excellent stakeholder management skills.

Ability to think creatively and able to work constructively in complex environments.

Experience of working in a changing environment, planning and collaborating effectively to manage workload and meet delivery deadlines.

Experience of working with carriers operating within the air, rail and maritime industry.

Understanding of the legal basis behind the acquisition of data and ability to explain this clearly to staff and internal and external stakeholders.

Some understanding of PNR/ API/ iAPI /UPT messaging to enable effective engagement with stakeholders and industry partners to resolve connectivity issues and support data quality improvement.

One or more of the following: APM Project Fundamentals, APM Project Management  Qualification, PRINCE 2 Foundation, Managing Successful Programmes Foundation or Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner.
