Monarch Education are currently looking for an experienced Science Technician to join an established team at a secondary school in Derby. This is a full-time role expected starting in September. The ideal candidate has experience of working as a science/lab technician in a school or other educational setting. You will be working under the guidance of the Science Leadership team but will be expected to self-manage to an extent.

Duties of the role include (but are not limited to):

Organising and preparing practical resources
Assist with the maintenance of a safe, working environment
Keeping accurate records
Assisting in the delivery of educational practical experiments
Monitoring and maintaining equipment, reporting any hazards as necessary
Monitoring stock levels of chemicals and equipment
Keeping the lab space hazard free and tidyThe ideal candidate:

Has a relevant degree or qualification, or sufficient demonstrable experience
Has worked in a lab before and understands how to safely handle chemicals and equipment
Has certificates in health and safety, COSHH, First Aid, or similar training to ensure a safe and reactive lab environment
Can provide a minimum of two satisfactory employment references
