Main Purpose of Job:
The position will be a key part of the Operations Team responsible for ensuring that the risk processing operates efficiently and effectively, that objectives are being met and to act as the central point of contact between underwriters and relevant 3rd parties. This is a key function for the Syndicate as it underpins the data that drives decisions everywhere within the business, so accuracy, consistency and timeliness are paramount. Further, a smooth and stable Underwriting Operations function supports high quality underwriting and a great service proposition to our brokers and clients as well as underpinning our regulatory compliance and resilient financial performance.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities
➢ Supporting the underwriting function by entering all underwriting data onto the policy administration system.
➢ Build and manage relationships with the Underwriting teams, including routine follow up to resolve any outstanding queries.
➢ Ensure day-to-day workflow is handled in a timely manner within SLAs and deadlines e.g. all policies cleared by the end of each week etc.
➢ Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure all risk information and correspondence is accurately recorded in the policy administration systems to ensure a complete and accurate audit trail of all substantive business activity.
➢ Respond to queries from internal and external parties as required in a timely manner.
➢ Assist in handling the regular internal reporting, including the production and analysis of monthly KPIs.
➢ Work with underwriting assistants to learn the basics of their roles and support during new staff transitions and peak periods.
➢ Liaise with the Credit Control function to address queries.
➢ Any other ad hoc tasks as defined and agreed with Underwriting.
Key Skills/Requirements:
Experience in short tail classes such as Political Violence and Terror is essential in order to understand and interpret slips. Experience of using a policy admin system essential, IRIS preferable. A working knowledge of Xchanging with the ability to interrogate the system and check signings would be advantageous. Team player with the ability to learn quickly, take initiative and work independently. Keen attention to detail. Intermediate Microsoft Excel user. Strong organisational and administrative skills. Desire to work for a dynamic and fast-growing organisation.
