Salter Grange is working with a global specialist contractor currently looking for a design manager on their £40M residential development in Manchester. 

Responsibilities:

Lead Design Integration in Tender Bid Process: Take ownership of all design-related aspects within the tender bid process, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.
Develop and Present Design Program: Produce and manage the front-end design program for inclusion in the tender submission. This includes highlighting key design drivers, identifying critical subcontractors, and providing clear explanations as necessary.
Advise on Specialist Sub-Contractor Selection: Offer expert advice on the selection of specialist subcontractors, ensuring that their capabilities align with the project's design requirements.
Evaluate and Address Strategic Design Elements: Analyze and provide solutions for strategic design items outlined in the tender documents, adhering to JSS procedures. This includes consideration of planning, building control, third-party requirements, brand standards, and other regulatory or strategic factors.
Present Design Strategy at Technical Settlements: Lead presentations on key design aspects during technical settlement meetings. This includes summarizing alternative design solutions, detailing the design team and consultants, addressing technical challenges, and assessing design risks and opportunities. Additionally, manage contingency allowances for design development, design fees, and provide an overview of the strategic design team's involvement.
Manage Design Development: Oversee the continuous development of design elements throughout the tender process, ensuring all designs meet the project's technical and aesthetic requirements while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
Coordinate with Internal and External Stakeholders: Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, design consultants, and subcontractors, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration to achieve optimal design outcomes.
Ensure Compliance and Quality Assurance: Monitor all design outputs to ensure they meet regulatory standards, client requirements, and quality benchmarks, taking proactive steps to resolve any discrepancies.
Requirements:

Proven track record in large-scale residential or mixed-use projects.
Relevant industry qualifications and a strong background in construction.
Five years of experience in the Civil Construction Industry.
Proven expertise in Temporary Works procedures,Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
