Location: Flexible working between Bolton and Leeds Education Centres
Lead change and curriculum innovation within Nacro’s Education & Skills directorate, overseeing delivery of the charity’s Education Centres in Bolton and Leeds.
Who we are
At , we fundamentally believe that everyone deserves a good education, a safe and secure place to live, a chance to be heard and the chance to start again.
Our Education & Skills teams enables thousands of students to access education programmes and skills development in environments suited to their individual needs.
We are offering an opportunity for an experienced further education sector leader to join a collaborative national leadership team and help to transform opportunities for students in our Leeds and Bolton Education & Skills Centres. This is a fixed-term appointment for two years.
Reporting to our Vice Principal (Student Experience), you will provide direction to the staff in our Leeds and Bolton centres, and drive change and improvement over the course of a two year period.
Together, both centres offer inclusive vocational programs of learning to students who benefit from additional support in order to progress and do well. From our Leeds base we offer courses in catering, motor vehicle, construction, and work readiness. From our centre in Bolton we offer opportunities for students to progress in hair and beauty therapies, motor vehicle, work readiness, and health and social care. In both 2019 and 2024 Nacro was judged to be a ‘Good’ provider by Ofsted.
There is a significant opportunity for Nacro to expand our educational offer in both cities and high demand for our provision. Our Head of Curriculum Innovation & Change will help us to ensure we offer our staff a developmental and aspirational working environment which supports and stretches our students to achieve their potential. The person appointed will also work with referral partners across Leeds and Bolton, raising the profile of Nacro and building our reputation in these localities.
We are incredibly proud of what we offer, how we offer it, and of the students who choose Nacro and progress with us. As the head of curriculum for these two centres, both of which have growth potential, you will be responsible for:
· Ensuring a high-quality learning experience which leads to excellent achievement, progression and destination outcomes for all students
· Supporting the development, planning, delivery and monitoring of Nacro’s curriculum to ensure that it meets the needs and aspirations of students, and the employment and skills priorities of the Leeds and Bolton regions
· Leading and collaborating with a diverse range of teams across the directorate and the wider organisation to support, inform and enable the work of the directorate
· Developing and implementing Nacro policies and procedures to support a high-quality, inclusive and supportive learning experience for all students and that ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Our progress and achievement data tells us that we outperform many other providers nationally, and the students, aged 16-24, who learn with us are achieving fantastic results because of our focus on providing supportive, personalised, and nurturing learning spaces.
Who we are looking for?
We welcome applications from inspiring candidates who are qualified teachers and who possess experience of leading curriculum change and development within further education settings. You will be a positive people influencer, skilled in both providing direction and mentoring curriculum and learning support staff to improve the quality of provision and opportunities for students.
You should be skilled in interpreting management information in order to improve the quality of provision, and able to make a positive impact on the quality and breadth of curriculum, and overall approach to teaching, learning and assessment.
As many of our students come to us because more traditional learning environments aren’t suited to them, you will be able to engage them in vocational learning which supports their personal and social development, alongside enabling their educational progress.
It is important to us that you believe no young person should have their right to education or training removed from them. Being a values-based leader, your belief in making sure strategies for inclusion and inclusive learning will be welcomed here.
The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check
