About the Role:

Dunbar Education is delighted to be working with a dynamic Secondary SEN Provision dedicated to supporting pupils aged 11-17 who primarily present with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside challenging behaviours. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENco) to lead and develop the provision, ensuring that each pupil receives tailored and effective support.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the SEN provision across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
Develop and implement strategies to support pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviours, facilitating their academic and social development.
Coordinate and manage EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans), ensuring that all legal requirements are met and that the provision is tailored to each pupil's needs.
Work closely with teaching staff to provide guidance on SEN strategies and differentiation within the classroom.
Liaise with external agencies, parents, and carers to ensure that the pupils' needs are met comprehensively and consistently.
Provide professional development and training for staff in areas related to SEMH and challenging behaviour.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision, using data to inform continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and SENco qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
Proven experience working within a SEN setting, particularly with pupils who have SEMH and behavioural challenges.
In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and experience with EHCPs.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and external stakeholders.
A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to manage and support staff in a challenging environment.
