One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Business Support Officer on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Hybrid working role were, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week.

Purpose of the job:

* To be extremely proficient in extracting, inputting and managing data in Resource Link – the council’s HR information System.

* Be very comfortable with working from central mailboxes and managing individual folders therein.

* Be proficient in Microsoft Suite applications, especially Outlook and Excel.

* Work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with constantly changing priorities. To implement and maintain efficient, cost-effective systems for administrative support whilst adhering to the Council’s customer service performance standards Function as the HR Department’s transactional arm, ensuring all administrative work relating to the employee life cycle within the Council is carried out in a timely and efficient manner - requires a good knowledge of working with HR IT System , spreadsheets and databases.

* Interrogate HR systems to identify and correct any discrepancies and ensure staff are awarded the correct entitlements (e.g. annual leave, working hours, salary, and continuous service) and ensure overpayments and discrepancies in employee records are avoided.

* Previous experience with Resource Link is required Undertake establishment cleansing and implement relevant changes on HR systems, inputting accurate data in a timely manner through creation of posts, structures and amendment of management reporting lines and service conditions.

* Carry out all transactional work required to implement organisational change. This includes, for example, post creation, post deletion, location change, cost code changes, reporting line changes, post structure link change.

* Ensure new and extension of employee job changes are processed in a timely and professional manner, enabling prompt and accurate payments to be made to employees by adhering to strict payroll deadlines. Responsibilities include changes to working hours, cost code changes, grade changes, increments, backdated grade amendments, including changing pay grade history, TTO calculations, new and extensions of temporary promotion arrangements and secondments, long service awards, first aid payments, unpaid leave, extended leave, leavers, post change, AMHP allowance, AMHP warranted allowance, Practice Educator Payments, Practice Assessor Payments, Maternity and Refer a Friend Payments. Assist with the development of the existing HR IT systems by carrying out regular UAT testing and identifying any system issues.

* Accurately maintain and update HR systems in relation to employee, details including new and amended contracts and terms and conditions of service and personal information.

* Promptly address employee queries and concerns through a dedicated HR inbox, signposting queries and questions to the right teams and individuals where the role holder is unable to resolve the query directly. In addition, progress work to respond to Subject Access Requests, respond to references, exit questionnaires, confirmation of employment, financial reference requests, providing copies of payslips and P60s, changing reporting lines, processing payment requests for long service awards through completion of AP1 forms.

* Maintain the strictest confidentiality in respect of employees’ documentation, in accordance with service standards and GDPR requirements. Undertake any other administrative responsibilities in keeping with the grade and overall work of the team
