If you have a good understanding of the sourcing lifecycle within the UK market and are eager to contribute by identifying cost-saving opportunities and supporting procurement strategies, this could be the perfect next step for you!
As Indirect Buyer, you’ll lead procurement efforts across freight, bottling, packaging and other high-value elements. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, you’ll analyse UK-wide spend across and implement continuous improvements within the UK supply and ordering processes.
This hybrid role (3 days in their lovely Newbury office) offers a salary of up to £45,000, alongside a generous benefits package, including 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays and your birthday off), an attractive bonus scheme, opportunities for career progression, and much more!
Key Responsibilities of the Indirect Buyer:
Lead the UK freight tender process and form strategic partnerships with freight forwarders.
Manage bottling contracts and related spending within the UK market.
Oversee group packaging needs, handling tenders and inventory management.
Analyse UK-wide spend across multiple entities to identify and capitalise on synergies.
Ensure all contracts meet BRC standards and compliance requirements.
Establish spend trackers and document vendor due diligence to support procurement transparency.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives in UK supply and ordering processes.
Set and review KPIs with the Head of Procurement to ensure performance alignment.
Oversee high-value items such as utilities, packaging materials, service contracts, and grape procurement.
Experience & Skills:
Proven experience as an Indirect Buyer, ideally within supply chain or purchasing.
Knowledge of the drinks or freight procurement industry is advantageous.
Competence in spend analysis, cost-saving initiatives, and compliance management.
Familiarity with ERP systems, ideally SAP, and desirable CIPS qualifications.
Strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.
