Booth Welsh require a Cost Engineer to join our team at Hartlepool Power Station
This role is available on either a PAYE hourly rate basis or a permanent staff role.
Long term work into 2026 and beyond.
Control, monitor, analyse and report cost related aspects for designated projects within a Portfolio.
Implement and maintain an appropriate cost management tool for the project in accordance with processes/templates, ensuring that budgets are correctly set in line with the Estimate.
Support tender assessment activities by reviewing and analysing cost proposals from sub-contractors.
Validate all cost transactions on a project, checking time booking, journals, other financial transactions and reviewing sub-contractor cost reports and scorecards to ensure accuracy with work completed and cost incurred.
Maintain an up to date Project cost forecast utilising information on spend, planned work, performance, changes and project risks.
Identify and assess variances to the cost baseline and expected forecast to provide cost performance insights to the project team and other stakeholders.
Prepare cost forecasts for project changes to enable identification of cost impacts on sanction, budgets and project ETC.
Technical aptitude with a high level of understanding of Project Management, Engineering, Regulatory, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning activities and their relation to project costs.
High level of numeracy, excellent analytic skills including use of appropriate IT tools. Strong verbal, written and presentational skills
Excellent MS office skills
Working knowledge of the Primavera applications
Working knowledge of the SAP applications
Project Controls Qualifications (e.g. NVQ or ECITB equivalents)
Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment.
Knowledge/Experience of using estimating, scheduling, programming and other Project Controls tools.
Knowledge of Earned Value Analysis and other performance measurement techniques.
