Our client a specialist Highways company have a vacancy for a Quantity Surveyor to work in the Guildford, Surrey area.
Key requirements
Civils experience- desirable
Location - within 30 miles
Full driving licence - essential
Technical Knowledge: Understand past and current building and construction technologies, building regulations, processes, materials, as well as legal and contractual matters. Civils in road building experience desired as well as the ability to perform site measurements
Strong Analytical Abilities: Be adept at analysing project outcomes and creating detailed breakdowns and forecasts - highly Excel skilled - SQl serever and queries desirable. .
Numeracy & Financial Management Skills: Exceptional numeracy skills are crucial for cost estimation and budget management,
Construction Contract Experience: Familiarity with recognized forms of construction contracts such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC,
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency in MS Office: Be comfortable using software tools like Microsoft Office, specifically Excel -
Effective Communication: Clear communication and negotiation skills are essential for collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to address commercial risks and develop appropriate responses.
Understanding of Construction Plans and Specifications: Ability to interpret, understand, and organize construction and building plans and specifications.
Health, Safety, and Sustainability Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability, and quality requirements - CSCS card level requested
Continuous Learning: Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify commercial risks and develop appropriate strategies.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a close-knit team

They would be responsible for:
Pricing works in accordance with the contract using the schedule of rates.
Management of early warnings, compensation events and associated quotations
Processing of cost and value in causeway, Kheops/SAP
Management of supply chain partners
Assessment and processing of subcontractor payments and liabilities
Provide advice on contractual matters
Represent our client and supply chain meetings
Aid Senior QS in administration of the contract
Provide effective administration of the contact
Assist the identification and management of financial risks
Ideal Candidate:
An understanding of BoQ
Previous experience in a similar role
Demonstrated knowledge and experience of commercial management of works on site
Effective commercial management of onsite activities and change management process
Good use of excel and word
Quantity surveying or Civil Engineering qualification
