Our client, a well-established, family-run Main Contractor with over 30 years of experience in the heritage restoration and general building sectors. They specialise in delivering high-quality projects for museums, art galleries, theatres, listed residential properties, and private estates. Their work primarily involves fit-outs, refurbishments, external repairs, redecorations, and general building works. With a project range of £10,000 to £2.5 million, their focus is on London and the South East, offering a top-tier service that has made them the partner of choice for many prestigious clients. The Role:

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and skilled Estimator to join their busy Commercial team. This is an office-based role in West Sussex, with the flexibility to work from home when required and travel to London for project visits. You will play a pivotal role in the financial success of various projects, ensuring they are both cost-effective and delivered to the highest standards. Reporting directly to the Senior Surveyor, you will work closely with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor and Admin Assistant, contributing to the successful restoration and preservation of some of the UK’s most iconic heritage sites.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct detailed cost estimations for heritage and general building projects, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.

* Review and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and drawings to develop cost plans and project budgets.

* Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to understand project requirements and deliver optimal solutions.

* Support the operations team throughout all project phases, from initial feasibility studies through to final completion.

* Prepare and present comprehensive cost reports, bid proposals, and tender documentation to senior management and clients.

* Visit project sites in London to ensure an in-depth understanding of the scope and requirements, and to provide accurate estimates.

* Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery and client satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

* Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, ideally with a focus on heritage or restoration projects.

* Strong knowledge of cost estimation processes and software, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent tools.

* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately interpret architectural plans and technical specifications.

* Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

* Experience working with commercial clients and contractors, ensuring high standards of communication and service delivery.

* A passion for preserving heritage sites and delivering high-quality work that respects the historical significance of the projects.

* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to London for project visits.
