Overview: Best in Class are working with an Outstanding school who are seeking a dedicated and passionate Maths Teacher to join their team on a maternity cover basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-achieving and ambitious curriculum area within a supportive and innovative educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Learning: Deliver high-quality and engaging Maths lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Plan and implement effective teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with SEND and PP. Use a variety of teaching methods to motivate and inspire students, fostering a love for Maths. Set and mark homework, providing constructive feedback to support student progress.
2. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and revision of the Maths curriculum and schemes of work. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources, ensuring a cohesive and dynamic curriculum.
3. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Employ a range of assessment techniques to monitor student progress and understanding. Provide regular, actionable feedback to students and set targets for improvement. Maintain accurate records of student performance and contribute to progress reports.
4. Student Support and Wellbeing: Establish positive relationships with students, promoting a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Implement effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere. Act as a Form Tutor if required, supporting the pastoral care of students.
5. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities to enhance teaching practice. Participate in school-wide CPD programmes and contribute to the professional growth of colleagues. Reflect on and improve personal teaching practices through research and feedback.
6. Enrichment Activities: Support and participate in extra-curricular and enrichment activities, including Maths challenges and educational visits. Contribute to the school’s Challenge and Celebration week and other whole-school events.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognized by the DfE.
* A degree in Maths or a related subject.
* Proven experience in teaching Maths at secondary level, with a track record of successful student outcomes.
* Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching Maths.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
