About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker to work at a residential children’s home in Derby. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the day-to-day care and support of children and young people aged 8-18 who have experienced trauma, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Your role is to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that enables them to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide Direct Care: Support children with daily routines, including meals, personal hygiene, and bedtime, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.

* Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships with the children, offering emotional support, guidance, and understanding. Help them develop coping strategies and positive behaviors.

* Activity Planning: Organize and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities that promote the children’s development, self-esteem, and life skills.

* Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the home. Be vigilant for signs of distress or safeguarding concerns, and follow procedures to report and address these promptly.

* Care Planning: Work closely with the care team to implement and review personalized care plans for each child. Contribute to the development of strategies that support their individual needs and goals.

* Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and reports on each child's progress, behavior, and any incidents. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards.

* Collaboration: Work in partnership with other professionals, such as social workers, teachers, and healthcare providers, to ensure a holistic approach to the care and development of each child.

* Shift Work: Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

* Previous experience working with children, preferably in a residential or similar care setting.

* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues.

Desirable:

* NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent qualification.

* Experience working with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD).
