ROLE: Mechanical Estimator

LOCATION: Medway, Kent

SALARY: £65k - £75k DOE

THE COMPANY

Our client, a leading mechanical contracting firm specialising in high-quality mechanical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This organisation focusses on servicing, maintenance, repairs, design, installation and commissioning. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our team.

THE JOB

As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical projects, ensuring competitive pricing and profitability. You will analyse project specifications, liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, and contribute to the successful bidding process.

Your duties will include:

* Review project specifications, drawings, and requirements to prepare accurate estimates.

* Develop cost breakdowns for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.

* Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure cost-effective solutions.

* Identify risks and opportunities to optimize project costs.

* Prepare and submit tender documentation and proposals.

* Assist in value engineering and alternative material assessments.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, materials, and labour costs

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the construction or mechanical contracting industry.

* Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.

* Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

* Strong communication and negotiation skills.

* Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
