SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

Salary: £75 - £110 per day

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education  are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to join an inclusive and supportive school in Newcastle.

Responsibilities:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary), your role will include:

Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in their learning and development.
Working closely with teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment.
Helping students to regulate their emotions and manage behaviour.
Encouraging students to build confidence, independence, and social skills.
Supporting classroom activities and engaging students in their learning.
Assisting with personalised learning plans tailored to individual needs.
Requirements:

To be successful as an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you should have:

Experience working with young people, ideally in an SEMH setting.
Patience, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
A commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students.
A strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs and the challenges students face.
A relevant qualification in education or experience in a similar role.
A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to obtain one).
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
