Position: Emergency Call Handler
Location: Nottingham, NG8
Start Date: 4th November
Pay: varies between £11.44 - £19 per hour, depending on the shifts you work
Shift-based role: 24/7 availability required, including night shifts
Temporary: cover for Christmas and New Year period (may be extended through January and February 2025)

As an Emergency Call Handler, you will be the first point of contact for the public and healthcare professionals in critical situations. Using advanced clinical software, you will assess and direct patients to the appropriate care providers, offer pre-arrival advice, and ensure prompt emergency response through efficient communication with ambulance crews.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive Emergency Calls: Handle calls from the public, doctors, and emergency services in both emergency and non-emergency scenarios.
Pre-arrival Advice: Offer life-saving guidance, such as CPR instructions, over the phone while emergency services are on their way.
Coordinate Dispatch: Input patient information into the system and communicate with ambulance crews and dispatch officers to ensure rapid deployment.
Professional Interaction: Engage courteously with all callers, health service colleagues, and emergency teams, always ensuring a professional demeanour.
Adhere to Protocols: Follow Control Room procedures, operational standing orders, and relevant guidelines.
Clerical Duties: Keep accurate records of patient journeys, cancellations, and amendments.
Relief Cover: Step in to cover for staff absences when required by the Duty Commander.Essential Experience & Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent Level 2 qualification), including English at Grade C / 4 or above, or demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
Additional Experience Required:
Experience Working with the Public: Proven ability to manage interactions with the public, particularly in high-pressure or sensitive situations.
Experience with Computers: Comfortable using computer systems for data input, communication, and record-keeping.
Interpersonal Skills: Experience interacting with a wide range of people, demonstrating empathy, patience, and professionalism.Why Join Us?
