Extrusion Technical Manager

* Salary: £40,000 - £60,000

Our client, a leader in the industry, is seeking an Extrusion Technical Manager. Role Overview:

As a Technical Manager, you will be at the heart of the extrusion operations, ensuring all plant, equipment, and tooling are operating at peak performance. You'll manage day-to-day technical support, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure that all team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

* Optimisation and Performance: Ensure all extrusion equipment, including machines, robots, conveyors, and tooling, operate efficiently, meeting targeted OEE and material usage goals.

* Team Leadership: Manage the daily activities of extrusion setters and provide guidance to the Plastic Processing Department.

* Continuous Improvement: Drive activities and promote a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on cost reduction and efficiency.

* Tooling and Equipment Management: Oversee the procurement and introduction of new tooling and equipment, ensuring all setting parameters and tooling records are maintained.

* Health, Safety, and Environment: Uphold safety standards within the extrusion area, proactively managing resources to meet key objectives.

* Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs to develop competency across the team, utilising a skills matrix to identify and address training needs.

* Collaboration: Work closely with the maintenance team to reduce downtime and enhance equipment efficiency. Share best practices with sister companies to foster a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications & Experience:

* Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within FMCG.

* At least 5 years of experience in a Plastic Processing Extrusion environment.

* ONC/HNC in Production Engineering or Engineering Management.

* Demonstrated ability to achieve key performance indicators and manage budgets effectively.

* Experience in a seasonal business or with plastic processing is advantageous.
