Lead Estimator – Structural Steelwork

My client, a well-established steelwork company based near Glasgow, is looking for a Lead Estimator to head up their estimating department. This is a key role within the business, offering an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to take ownership of the estimating function and play a pivotal part in the company’s continued success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the estimating department, managing all aspects of tendering and bid submissions.

* Prepare detailed take-offs and cost estimates for structural steelwork projects.

* Present and lead tenders, liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

* Assess technical drawings and specifications to provide accurate pricing.

* Identify project risks and opportunities, ensuring competitive and profitable bids.

* Support business development by contributing to pricing strategies and market insights.

* Drive continuous improvement within the estimating process and department.

Key Requirements:

* Extensive experience as an Estimator within the structural steel industry.

* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a department.

* Confident in presenting tenders and negotiating with clients.

* Proficiency in take-off estimating and cost analysis.

* Commercially astute with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
