Tezlom is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children Support Worker to join our team, supporting children with complex needs, including Autism and other conditions. This role is based in South East London, working 37 hours per week on a rotating schedule over 7 days, with the expectation of working weekends, overnight shifts, and additional hours during school holiday periods.
About the Role
Our client group consists of children who require:
* Personal care and manual handling (including hoisting)
* Management of challenging behaviours
This role offers a mix of responsibilities:
* Weekday Hours (9am - 5pm): Office-based work, including managing caseloads, preparing reports, and planning for weekend services.
* Weekend Shifts: Early shift (7am - 4:30pm) and late shift (3:30pm - 10pm), with potential overnight or “sleep-in” shifts.
* School Holidays: Shift-based schedule similar to weekends to support a 7-day service.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a key worker for assigned cases, managing and monitoring individual children’s development.
* Write comprehensive reports and manage case documentation.
* Provide direct care and support to children with varying levels of need, including personal care.
* Assist in behavioural management and skill development activities for children.
* Collaborate with team members to create a positive and supportive environment.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience: Proven experience working with children, ideally within a residential care setting and with children with disabilities.
* Skills: Strong communication skills, confidence, reliability, and a genuine interest in improving the lives of children. Computer proficiency for report writing and caseload management.
* Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Childcare is preferred. However, candidates with relevant experience and an aptitude to learn will be considered, with the potential for future training support.
