About the role - Maintenance Engineer
Our client is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to maintain all their electrical equipment, machinery, auxiliary instruments, and gauges, ensuring minimum disruption to production and compliance with safety requirements across their state-of-the-art factory.
Responsibilities
Maintenance, Repairs and Changeovers
Complete planned maintenance activities as per schedule
Conduct equipment set-up evaluation (ESE) after maintenance, breakdowns, and tooling replacements
Complete size changeovers as per production planning requirements and seek to improve the changeover process
Ensure availability and efficient function of re-conditioned spares
Support the Production Team during major machine and services breakdownsManufacturing of Parts & Unit Spares
Where necessary, re-engineer spare parts using drawings or reverse engineering from existing parts
Manufacture unit spares for machines using a full range of engineering machines (lathes, millers, grinders etc.)
Manufacture small component parts for production machinery (E.g., bushes, pins, guards etc.)
Manufacture, fit and maintain machine guards, where required
Re-dress grinding machine wheels
Maintain all safe working practices as required by Health and Safety Legislation and Power Press Regulations
Maintain a good standard of housekeeping by regular cleaning of machines and floor and disposing of scrapTool Care
Service, maintain, re-assemble, and ensure a quality supply of tool parts associated with the manufacture of beverage cans Additional Duties
When production demands determine, operate, maintain, repair, and improve all production machinery to produce maximum output of the required quality
Comply with all administration procedures associated with tooling maintenance
Assist in trials, installation and commissioning of equipment as directed by immediate Manager
Work flexibly in any work area as far as safety and capability allows
What we need from you
Level 3 Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering/Maintenance
Previous experience in using workshop machinery and measuring equipment (lathe, milling, welding, cutting etc)
Commitment to Health and Safety
A 'can-do' attitude
A drive for continuous improvement
What we would like from you
HNC (Level 4) qualification
Relevant experience in maintaining can making equipment
