PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This role is to act as a liaison point between the Temporary Accommodation Income team and the Hackney Money Hub.
The overarching intention is to secure settled accommodation for individuals and families in temporary accommodation, by tackling the rent arrears and/ or other financial barriers that prevent residents from “moving on”. 

Responsibilties

Work with individuals and families in temporary accommodation, who are ineligible to bid for social lettings due to arrears. We expect this will take a relational approach, where you will build engagement with the resident and provide holistic support.
Ensure that individuals and families in temporary accommodation have maximised their income and achieved the maximum possible entitlement to welfare benefits through providing them with appropriate benefits advice and support
Support individuals and families in temporary accommodation who have built up chronic and unaffordable levels of debt, by working collaboratively with them to ensure they receive appropriate independent debt advice from debt advice agencies
Where relevant, you may arrange a Discretionary Housing Payment to help these tenants clear arrears and move on into sustainable tenancies. Money Hub expert officers are able to assist in this process.
You will be aware of the entitlement requirements for disability benefits, including PIP and Attendance Allowance, and may help disabled TA residents apply for them, as well as providing support with mandatory reconsiderations and disability benefit tribunals . Money Hub expert officers are able to assist in this process.

Requirements 

Has experience of best practice in building relationships and working with vulnerable residents with complex needs, towards positive behaviour change
Has experience of income maximisation, including identifying entitlement to benefits, and wider support including free school meals, healthy start vouchers, warm home discounts and social tariffs for water, and broadband / phone bills.
Is able to identify where a resident has problem debt and signposting to specialist debt advice services.
Temporary accomodation experience 
Experience working in a housing association or council 

Contract 

Initial 3 to 6 month ongoing contract
PAYE via Umbrella 
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (Hybrid position)
