Job Title: Senior Packaging Engineer
Location: Slough
Contract Length: 12 Months

The Senior Packaging Engineer will play a vital role within the Europe DS1 organization, driving the design, development, and implementation of innovative packaging solutions to support growth in all product categories. This role is instrumental in managing value-driven projects and ensuring secure supply within the Europe R&D Delivery System 1 team. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of high-quality packaging solutions and collaborate cross-functionally to drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead packaging development activities, managing projects from initial design through to commercialization.

*

Ensure technical packaging designs align with brand quality standards, meeting both quality and performance criteria.

*

Manage timelines to deliver packages to market as planned, maintaining accurate specifications to support cost-effectiveness.

*

Establish performance standards and corrective actions for package quality and manufacturing to ensure all packages meet required standards.

*

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess project desirability, feasibility, and viability.

*

Work closely with R&D Factory Innovation teams to ensure scalability within internal manufacturing capabilities.

*

Partner with external manufacturing and packaging teams to implement packaging solutions via external supply networks as needed.

Key Skills / Experience Required:

*

In-depth knowledge of packaging materials, construction, and machinery interaction.

*

Minimum of 5 years' experience in packaging development within the food industry, ideally with FMCG food companies.

*

Expertise in various packaging types, including wraps, films, cartons, and cases.

*

Strong foundation in food safety, hygiene programs, packaging laws, and material legislation.

*

Understanding of food processing, packaging sciences, and production processes.

*

Demonstrated project management skills with an ability to prioritize effectively.

*

Proven experience managing diverse stakeholders across demand and supply functions.

*

Experience collaborating with external vendors and operations teams to achieve project goals.
