Howdens, a FTSE100 company, is looking for a methodical Process Engineer to join the Strategic Projects and Development team, in Raunds, Northamptonshire.  This is a permanent position, where you will be responsible for improving warehouse performance and productivity using industrial engineering techniques and continuous improvement.

As Process Engineer, working with your stakeholders, we will look to you to identify, analyse and improve processes within the warehouse to increase efficiency, productivity, and profitability.

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Projects & Development, and as part of the wider Logistics team, this role works closely with the Warehouse Operational team, Continuous Improvement, SHE (H&S), L&D, HR, IS, Finance and Quality. The key aim of this cross-functional role is to support Operations to deliver safe and efficient service to the depots.

Within the role, you will provide accurate data to build and maintain warehouse Time Standards for use within the Warehouse Labour Management system.

This is a technical specialist role which can empower significant gains in productivity.

What you will be doing as a Process Engineer:

- Accountability for data integrity within the Warehouse Labour Management System, including the management of a robust change control system. This includes creating flowcharts, upkeep of location and mapping user information.
- Performing Direct Observational Time Studies method studies and using Predetermined Time Motion Systems in order to create and maintain accurate Time Standards.
- Presenting the results of work measurement to our warehouse leadership and operatives to increase engagement and understanding in warehouse time standards
- Responsible for promoting the standardisation of processes and methods across all shifts.
- Creating a robust schedule and triggers that lead to reviewing Time Standards.
- Conducting in-depth analysis, studies, and reviews to ensure warehouse processes and procedures are efficient, safe, and sustainable.
- In collaboration with the Continuous Improvement team, analyse challenges, evaluate, explore, and develop new innovative solutions

What we’re looking for:

- Relevant industrial engineering / productivity analysis qualification preferred (e.g. IMS Certification)
- Technical understanding and practitioner of Warehouse Labour Management Systems and a proficient level in Warehouse Management Systems
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
- Experience of engaging with senior stakeholders to influence decision making
- Experience using LEAN principles and skilled at simplifying complex issues and interpreting them so that they can be understood by all levels of stakeholders
- Experience of route cause analysis methodology and knowledge of statistical process control
- Comfortable in working with large data sets and able to analyse data accurately and concisely
- Adept at using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent math and literacy skills
