An exciting opportunity has arisen with one of our West Midlands clients.

Reporting to the Machining Cell Leader, you will be responsible for machining of parts on a CNC machinery with Fanuc or Heidenhain controller. These can be very large components that you would be machining. You must be able to programme, set and operate the machine to produce accurate components, working to drawings and specifications with a minimum of supervision.

• Write programmes for your own work, during machining operations wherever practical.
• Plan the setting up and holding of your own work including making up fixtures as required.
• Produce a wide range of low volume or one-off machined parts that satisfy the time, cost and quality requirements stated in the work instructions.
• Work to tight tolerances and check own work during production.
• Maintain accurate records for all work in order to satisfy company standards and procedures.

Skills Required

• Apprentice trained and have a good understanding of manufacturing protocols including OEE and 5S. You will have a working knowledge of feeds and speeds coupled with personal motivation.
• Candidate must have experience on CNC machinery with Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.
• Machinist who has worked on low volume medium to large sized components
• Take ownership of the tooling, fixtures, programming, setting and operating of each job, and assure component quality conformance
• Can demonstrate a passion and pride in their work and working area
• A willingness to be flexible for business requirements including overtime and weekend work on occasions.
• Experienced machinist who has produced high tolerance machined parts to engineering drawings.
• Be able to read engineering drawings, understand tolerances, machine finishes, machining various materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel and alloys
• An excellent attention to detail
• Must be self-motivated and able to take responsibility for own work.
• Work in a conscientious manner working to high levels of cleanliness, safety and quality
• Be able to use measuring equipment such as micrometres, verniers in ensuring components are to drawing
