We're seeking a dedicated individual to join our schools team as a History Teacher in St Albans, Hertfordshire, starting in September.
As a History Teacher, you'll play a pivotal role in bringing the past to life and inspiring students to explore the complexities of historical events and themes. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact, ignite curiosity, and foster a love for history among young learners.
History Teacher Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging and immersive history lessons that captivate students' interest and promote a deeper understanding of key historical concepts and events.
Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including inquiry-based learning, discussions, and multimedia resources, to facilitate meaningful exploration and analysis of historical sources and perspectives.
Implement the national curriculum effectively, covering a range of historical periods, themes, and topics, while encouraging critical thinking, empathy, and historical literacy.
Assess student progress through regular formative assessments, essays, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth and development.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and develop their historical reasoning skills.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular links, participate in departmental meetings, and contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Relevant university degree in History or a related field.
PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience within UK schools is required for candidates holding an overseas teaching degree.
