Builders Merchant Yard Man Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Builders Merchant Yard Man to join our dynamic team. As a Yard Man, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our yard, while providing excellent customer service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Safely and efficiently handle, load, and unload building materials.

* Operate forklifts and other equipment to move materials within the yard.

* Conduct manual handling of heavy and bulky products, adhering to proper lifting techniques and safety protocols.

* Assist customers in selecting and loading materials onto their vehicles.

* Maintain a clean and organized yard, ensuring products are neatly stacked and safely stored.

* Accurately record and manage inventory levels.

* Utilize your product knowledge to assist customers with inquiries and product recommendations.

* Follow strict health and safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate PPE.

* Collaborate with team members to fulfill customer orders and ensure a seamless yard operation.

* Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment.

* Ensure compliance with company standards at all times.

Skills & Experience:

* Proven experience as a Builders Merchant Yard Man or a similar role.

* Proficiency in manual handling techniques for safely lifting and carrying heavy items.

* Certification and experience in operating forklifts and other yard equipment.

* Strong product knowledge related to building materials.

* Excellent customer service skills.

* Knowledge of health and safety procedures and the ability to maintain a safe working environment.

* High attention to detail to accurately manage inventory and product placement.

* Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual handling tasks.

* Effective communication skills for assisting customers and working within a team.

* Familiarity with yard management software or systems is a plus.

* A valid forklift license and a clean driving record are highly desirable.

* Transport & Logistical, Health & Safety, First Aid, or related experience is welcomed.
