About Us
We are recruiting for Mechanical Fitters / Mechanical Technicians to join a business who specialise in the servicing and maintenance of heavy industrial plant across the power, chemical and water sectors
The Role
As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical systems and equipment to ensure operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and a passion for problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment – pumps, valves, compressors etc
* Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions to minimise downtime
* Assist with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment
* Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures
* Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimise system performance
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work
Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, ONC, or equivalent) along with a time served apprenticeship
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician/Fitter/Engineer or similar role in an industrial or engineering environment.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* A full UK driving licence is required for occasional work away at client sites
