This pivotal role involves providing targeted academic assistance, enabling students to overcome challenges and excel in their studies.
About the role:
As an Academic Support Mentor, you will be instrumental in supporting students' educational journeys by offering tailored academic guidance and mentoring. You will work closely with teachers, parents and other educational professionals to develop and implement effective support strategies that meet the individual needs of each student.
Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:
Provide personalised academic mentoring to students, helping them to understand complex subjects and improve their academic performance.
Conduct small group sessions to address specific academic challenges and foster collaborative learning.
Assess and monitor students' academic progress, providing constructive feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed.
Develop and implement intervention plans to address learning difficulties and academic underperformance.
Collaborate with teachers to identify students in need of additional support and integrate mentoring into the overall educational framework.
Maintain open communication with parents, involving them in their child's academic progress and support plans.
The Successful Candidate Will:
Previous experience in an educational setting, particularly in a mentoring or academic support role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
A genuine enthusiasm for helping students achieve their academic goals and a commitment to their educational development.
The ability to manage and respond to academic challenges with patience and a problem-solving attitude.
Flexibility in approach, with the capability to tailor mentoring methods to suit individual student needs
To work with GSL Education, you need to:
Have the right to work in the UK.
Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
