Purpose
As a key member of the Manufacturing Management team, ensure the Workshops achieve their production schedule, safely, efficiently, and compliantly. Monitor and maintain the performance of site assets to ensure they are performing at maximum efficiency and output including delivering a total preventative maintenance program. Support the site engineering team with process and equipment improvements.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Production Management
1. Key accountability for equipment performance and reliability in the Workshops (OEE champion for Availability)
2. Lead the site maintenance team to provide both a responsive, multi-skilled maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure
3. Key accountability for the performance and management of a multi-skilled maintenance team (Mechanical, Electrical and Instruments)
4. Assist the Plant Engineers with delivery of process changeover within the Workshops
5. Coordinate Maintenance Technician resource to ensure all emergent and planned maintenance activities are delivered on time
6. Coordinate Maintenance Technician resource to ensure changeover activity hits target startup date
7. Increase the site operational effectiveness by effective project delivery, lengthening mean time between failures and reducing downtime
8. Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
SHEQ
1. Ensure that all Environment, Health & Safety requirements are met including (but not limited to) statutory site equipment adherence, workplace organisation, work instructions, risk assessments, permit issuing and control, COSHH assessments, housekeeping standards, and operating within the environmental permit.
2. Assist the Plant Engineering Team to ensure the safe operation of all Workshop equipment
3. Assist the Plant Engineering Team to ensure all running processes and improvement activities are carried out safely and environmentally compliantly
4. Assist the Safety Department to ensure all safety critical equipment is functioning and meets its regulatory requirements
5. Drive a culture of safety performance (BBS, Near Miss reporting, TBT’s, Chemical Awareness) within the Maintenance team
6. Participate in AINM’s (Accident, Incident, Near Miss) reviews and assist in the evaluation
Equipment Management
1. Key accountability for ensuring availability losses are minimized on Process Constraint equipment
2. Assist the Plant Engineer in ensuring all vessels within the Workshop remain complaint w.r.t statutory inspections
3. Assist the Plant Engineer in ensuring all alarm and trip functions are tested in line with their design specification
4. Work with the Head of Manufacturing and Head of Engineering to create and implement best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
5. Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensure full preventative maintenance is carried out, plan in missed maintenance activities, and lead the team to deliver effectively.
6. Improve RFT performance by ensuring repeat equipment breakdowns are minimized.
7. Assist the Plant Engineer with RCA activities for failures on key assets
8. Assist the Plant Engineer to prepare the annual Maintenance budget and forecasts ensuring spend is in line with forecasts and business requirements
Assist the Head of Engineering to prepare annual Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Training and Development
Assist Workshop Manager in the generation, data collection and monitoring of Workshop Level KPI’s
Organize and deliver Maintenance related training modules for Maintenance Team
Lead, coach and develop a high performing Maintenance and Reliability team that meets agreed objectives, delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements.
Communication
Ensure site Maintenance plan aligned with changing site priorities as determined by Head of Manufacturing
Assist Mechanical Group Leader in ensuring the Maintenance Plan is updated on a weekly basis, aligned with priorities and available resources
Key accountability for ensuring Production related priorities shared with Maintenance Supervisors and Shift Team

Education

HNC / HND in a relevant engineering discipline or time served in an applicable role
