Location: Middlesbrough

Hours: Mon to Fri 08.00- 16.00

Weekend Rota ( one week in three Sat / Sun 08.00-12.00 )

Rate: £31.27/hr.

Overtime available £43.77/hr (over 40hr or 1st 4hrs Saturday) and £56.29/hr (Saturday after 4 hrs, Sunday)

Duration: Long term, 3 Month Rolling Contract

World-leading industrial gases and engineering company urgently require a qualified Instrument Technician to our client on a contractor basis. The successful applicant will support the continued operation of the Middlesbrough site by ensuring that all instrumentation associated with plant machinery, equipment and process systems is efficiently maintained to company operational standards and statutory requirements.

Main Duties

Responsible for the completion of all routine and breakdown instrument maintenance of plant and machinery within the main branch. Ensuring that the work is undertaken safely, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner. Provide an immediate response to production personnel on fault diagnosis and correction across all instrument equipment at time of plant outage or equipment mal-function.

Complete SAP records in respect of planned maintenance activities and repairs carried out. The technician will detail as found condition as well as work carried out. They will make recommendations with regard to future maintenance and will ensure that records are updated.

Install new items of instrument equipment where required. Make recommendations for the improvement of plant performance or operating methods and modify plant and machinery as authorised to meet new standards, improve performance, reduce maintenance or reduce risk.

Undertake all work to the appropriate company procedure or standard or to a recognised recommended practice. Maintain a level of understanding of current standards and legislation. Ensure that at all times those activities controlled by a quality system are undertaken to the appropriate procedure.

Maintain workshop equipment, tools and transportable equipment and undertake housekeeping or workshop and clean room facilities.

The technician will normally work day shift hours during the week and will be expected to cover breakdown work out of hours, at weekends or at plant overhauls.

Knowledge and Experience Required

* Recognised Instrument Qualification.

* Knowledge of general instrument engineering practices.

* Specialised knowledge of process plant instrumentation.

* Knowledge of calibration procedures for pressure, temperature and flow transmitters. Calibration procedure for process analysers.

* Good base knowledge and understanding of industry and statutory standards and codes of practice.

* Detailed knowledge of Permit to Work procedures.

* Driving licence essential for full job coverage – ability to drive site transport.
